What Amazon FBA seller fees do I have to pay?

When it comes to selling on Amazon, below are the usual suspects you will likely find when selling on there.

  • Referral Fee: A referral fee is when Amazon charges you for referring a customer to your product. In other words, as you sell on their marketplace, which drives millions of customers to it yearly, they charge you a fee for giving you that customer. This charge is between 8% – 15% of the sell price.
  • Fulfilment Fee (FBA): A fulfilment fee applies when Amazon ships your product to the customer. Call it a delivery fee. It’s the cost of getting it from a fulfilment centre right through to delivering it to your customer. This is a flat fee per item.
  • Storage Fees: A storage fee is charged depending on how long your item sits at the fulfilment centre for. The longer it sits there, the more money you are charged for it. This is why it’s super important to understand how quickly something will sell, as the longer it sits in stock, the less money you make.
  • Digital Services Fee: Digital Services Fee (DSF) is a new charge implemented on October 1st 2024, to cover the costs of Digital Services Tax (DST) imposed by various countries. This fee applies to selling fees and FBA fees, and it is calculated based on the seller’s country of establishment and the Amazon store where they sell. In the UK, the DSF is typically 2%. This used to be incorporated into the full fee but has since been split out.
  • Return/Removal Fee: If for any reason you need to return your stock to you, Amazon will charge you a set amount. This fee can range from 0.45p a unit up to £10.10 a unit.
  • Disposal Fee: if you don’t want the items returned to you and want Amazon to dispose of your item, you can ask them to do it, but at a fee ranging from 0.61p a unit all the way up to £13.30 depending on size and weight.
  • Monthly Membership: To sell on Amazon, you must also pay the monthly subscription of £25.00 + VAT (£30.00)
  • Prep Fees: If you use a prep centre, you will need to factor your prep fee per unit into your calculations.
